Sony Japan announced last week that between January 13 and 15, the latest version of the Gran Turismo series, Gran Turismo Sport will be available to play at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2017. This also means that lucky Tokyo-based gamers were among the firsts to try the epic racing game in virtual reality.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan dedicated a full-sized booth to GT Sport, open to the public in hall 4. Attendees had the chance to try out the title on the PlayStation VR although they needed numbered tickets to do so.
In this exhibition, the simulation title was demoed with the Playstation VR, with 4K and HDR image using the Playstation 4 Pro. Single play and match play in normal mode were also available to try.
Gran Turismo Sport has was originally supposed to launch in Spring 2017, but has been delayed to 2017. The racing game is developed by Polyphony Digital, and will be released exclusively for the Playstation 4 (and Pro), with Playstation VR compatibility. According to media sources Gran Turismo Sport will not be fully playable in VR, will have a specific ‘VR Tour’ game mode instead.
