A virtual reality distracted driving simulator is taking a nationwide tour around the USA. The tour focuses on the dangers of smartphone distractions while driving.
The experience is a 2 minute virtual reality simulation where you come across normal day-to-day stop signs, traffic lights, and it shows you that if you take your phone out, what could happen in front of you at that time. The simulator puts you in the driver’s seat, where you can see the end result in a safe environment.
The driving sim is part of the AT&T ‘It Can Wait campaign,’ which urges drivers to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phones. Originally the campaign began with a focus on not texting and driving, but later expanded to the broader dangers of smartphone use behind the wheel.
AT&T has been traveling to 200 locations this year, in order to raise awareness about the dangers of using a smartphone while driving.
