Codemasters says VR support for DiRT Rally 2.0 is up to community demand

Dirt Rally 2.0 is coming out in February 2019 but we know for sure that it will launch without a VR support.  There’s still hope though, developer Codemasters says VR could be part of a future update, but that depends on how hard the gamer community wants it.

In September 2018, Codemasters announced DiRT Rally 2.0 and during a live stream just a few days ago, the developer revealed a very unique and interesting approach to the VR game mode.

“We won’t be having VR in the game for launch,” chief game designer Ross Gowing said. “But it is something that we’re listening to everybody’s comments and all the things the community have to say about it, and we are all ears. If there’s enormous demand for it then yeah, we can do it. It’s no small undertaking but if it’s what people want then we’ll try and get it done.”

The above comments were noted by VRFocus, and you can listen to Gowing’s words yourself at 6:00 in the video below.

Now that the possibility of VR support is officially confired for the upcoming DiRT Rally 2.0, we would like to assure Codemasters that hundreds of thousands of VR gamers will vote for the feature, including us, here at Racing in VR. Based on how amazing the game looks in the announcement trailer, and how excellent the first DiRT Rally’s VR implementation was, we are really looking forward to drive those badass rally cars in fully immersive virtual reality.
